Throughout highschool, I have loved involving myself in a variety of activities within the school community. At the University of Florida, I plan to major in Statistics and Data Science with the hopes of having a career as a data analyst in the sports world. I am so appreciative of Gotham Gators for awarding me this scholarship and I can’t wait to spend the next four years in Gainesville! Go Gators!!

Max Cathey-Jordan

Gotham Gators Continuing Education Scholarship Recipient

My name is Max Cathey-Jordan and I'm a rising junior from Lambertville, NJ. I study finance at the University of Florida, specifically focusing on the applications of technology and computer algorithms in financial settings. While on campus, I am involved in numerous extracurriculars including LeadUF, intramural sports, and knitting club. Additionally, I serve as President of the Out of Stater Gator club, a group dedicated to connecting and assisting out-of-state students at UF. This summer I participated in NJM Insurance Group's internship program on their FP&A team. During my time at NJM, I worked on budgeting analytics and forecasting company financials for the next fiscal year. Despite being halfway through my college career, I still look forward to the extensive opportunities UF presents every day. Go Gators!

JESSICA Izquierdo

Summer in the City Scholarship Recipient

As the daughter of Cuban immigrants who risked their lives on a makeshift raft to achieve freedom, my mother and father instilled the importance of hard work in me from a young age. My hard work and dedication led me to become a student at the University of Florida (UF), a school among the top five public universities in the nation.  Being a student at UF has unlocked incredible opportunities for me, such as securing a summer internship in New York City. My internship at the Lippe Taylor Group, an earned marketing agency, is providing me with the foundation needed to become a leading young professional in the industry.

As I graduate this fall with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations, I feel highly prepared to enter the workforce. I hope to one day give back to the community of first-generation students who are chasing their dreams and building their lives and networks from scratch.
