Mike grew up in Central Florida and officially became a Gator in 2001. He majored in Civil Engineering and earned a Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering in 2007. While attending the University of Florida, he was very involved with the American Society of Civil Engineers, becoming the Captain of UF’s Concrete Canoe Team. (Yep, they built and raced canoes made out of concrete, competing against other Engineering Colleges.) He attended as many Gator sporting events as possible and enjoyed everything that college life in Gainesville had to offer.
After spending about four years working as a civil engineer in Orlando, he decided to embark on an extended adventure to New York City. He has enjoyed living in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and currently calls Jersey City home. He is working as a Geotechnical Engineer with a small but growing consulting and design firm based out of Springfield, New Jersey, and gets to work on job sites in the Garden State as well as in the Five Boroughs and on Long Island.
In his free time, Mike enjoys training for and participating in endurance athletic events, doing fun stuff like hiking, rock climbing, skiing, traveling, reading, spending time with friends, and exploring New York City. Mike is the new Vice President of Activities & Adventure and he is very eager to plan and facilitate some exciting and entertaining events for the Gotham Gator Club. He hopes to add new recreational options while increasing membership and involvement of all UF alumni in the NYC area.
