Amy Summers

Amy was born in Gainesville, Fla., and has been a Gator fan her entire life (except for a short stint when her father tried very hard to persuade her to become a Miami Hurricane).  Attending the University of Florida was an obvious choice when she determined her career path of public relations, with UF having one of the top three schools for public relations degrees in the country. Amy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations, from the College of Journalism and Communications, with a minor in Health Science Education.

After Gainesville, Amy moved to the Tampa Bay area where she worked at a boutique public relations agency and honed her skills in publicity and media relations. While still in her 20s, and with an entrepreneurial drive, she founded her own agency, Pitch Publicity in 2003. Her agency specializes in securing media interviews for corporate clients across North America and abroad from a variety of industries. Additionally, Pitch Publicity has worked with multiple national and international nonprofits to develop targeted fundraising campaigns raising millions of dollars for specific campaigns and causes. Amy also donates a large percentage of her company’s resources and time to pro bono causes and organizations including those from her alma mater, the University of Florida’s Florida Players Network (membership includes all former UF football players) and Desire Street Ministries led by Heisman Trophy winner and College Football Hall of Fame recipient, Danny Wuerffel.

After permanently relocating her company to the media mecca of Manhattan, Amy continues to hire nearly 98 percent of her interns and team members from UF’s College of Journalism & Communications as part of her remote publicity team.

When Amy is not pitching media or rooftop hopping in the concrete jungle of NYC, she enjoys exploring Central Park with her canine boxer Laila and experiencing any and all of the amazing art and cultural experiences New York City offers. As a Florida native she is most at home with activities that involve water including the beach, sailing, water skiing and she is a PADI Advanced Open Water, Enriched Air scuba diver with more than 150 dives logged around the world including the Great Barrier Reef, Australia, Rangiroa and Bora Bora, Tahiti, Sicily, Italy, Roatán, Honduras and Pemba Island, Africa.
